Overlanding has been a thing for quite some time now. But seeing as we are still in a global pandemic and flying is not the ideal form of travel, more and more people are seeking adventure in other ways. TruckHouse has capitalized on this trend by creating the BCT. The TruckHouse BCT is essentially a luxury camper truck. Drivers and passengers can take extended trips across the country, hit the beaten path, and live off the grid without sacrificing comfort.

This vehicle continues what the 1980s Toyota Sunradar started. If you can imagine a miniaturized RV falling onto the cargo bed of a 2021 Toyota Tacoma, you’ll have a pretty good idea of what the BCT looks like. Yet, the design is remarkable, and it doesn’t give off a hodgepodge appearance.

Does it come at a cost? You bet it does. Customers should expect to pay anywhere from $285,000 to $380,000 for the transformed Tacoma. But just wait until you see how awesome the BCT is. Below, we’ll talk about the primary features, some of the best adventure trips you can take in the United States, and more.

Main Features

Let’s start with the truck. There are three “stages” available for the BCT: One, Two, and Three. You can get Stages One and Two with a Tacoma TRD Access Cab or TRD Sport. For Stage One, TruckHouse puts on a new rear bumper, a reinforced chassis, long-travel suspension, a specially fabricated rear axle, and 33-inch tires. Stage Two adds 35-inch tires and builds on Stage One from there with a modified front bumper, drilled and slotted disc brakes, extended-range fuel tank, a snorkel, an air compressor, and a front winch.

The features really beef up for Stage Three, for which you need a TRD Pro. Special front and rear differentials, an upgraded long-travel suspension kit, ultra-tough front and rear winches, and auxiliary lights are added.

Now, for the single-piece carbon fiber reinforced composite house, which is not your average camper. It looks sleek, and it seamlessly fits onto the Tacoma body. The house offers an automatic awning, seven dual-pane safari-style windows, a three-point locking entry door, an electric entry step, multi-access gear storage, a torsion-free mounting system, and a 10-speaker soundbar, among other features.

The interior of the camper doesn’t leave much to be desired either. Sleeping accommodations for four adults (including a queen-sized bed), a bathroom with shower and toilet, and a full galley come standard. You can also opt for a 32-inch LED TV, heated floor, 12v air conditioning, heating, Wi-Fi, upgraded insulation, two captain’s chairs, and Bosch appliances (including an oven and a marine-grade refrigerator and freezer). In other words, it has everything you need for a glamping adventure.

Behind the Creation

As previously mentioned, the TruckHouse camper fits the Tacoma body perfectly. That may be because TruckHouse spent more than 1,000 hours on blending the camper with the Tacoma’s proportions, body lines, and utility. Describing the design process, COO and co-founder Nicolo Monforte said: “We started by breaking down what the perfect overland camping experience was to us, and from there we built the most capable and livable vehicle we could imagine.” He has also stated that the Tacoma was chosen as the foundation of the BCT for its “modest size, maneuverability, and proven longevity.”

Adventure Trip Ideas

Whether you determine to invest in the BCT or you simply want to continue daydreaming about what could be, here are a few of the top locations for adventure tripping in the US:

Grand Canyon. Perhaps America’s most famous natural landmark, the Grand Canyon is simply majestic. Along with breathtaking views from countless angles, this spot provides lots of opportunities for hiking, whitewater rafting, and many other activities.

Yosemite. This is a favorite among outdoor enthusiasts, and it also offers grandiose scenery. Visit Yosemite National Park, and you’ll find plenty of opportunities for hiking, horseback riding, and biking.

Yellowstone. If hiking is one of your favorite pastimes, Yellowstone National Park may be the cream of the crop. Splendid mountains, canyons, meadows, geysers, and waterfalls stretch over 3,000 square miles, and you’re sure to see bears, buffalo, elk, and other wildlife on your adventures.

Adirondacks. Moving east, the Adirondacks in upstate New York provides adventurers with stunning scenery and opportunities for thrilling activities. Skiing, bobsledding, canoeing, and fishing are some of the most popular activities enjoyed in this mountainous area, which stretches over six-million acres.

The TruckHouse BCT is expensive. But boy is it amazing. If you’re looking for the ultimate adventure vehicle for exploring the US, then it doesn’t get any better. Just keep researching all the different trips you could take, and let your imagination run wild with what you could do with the specimen that is the TruckHouse BCT!
