2016 Toyota Camry: New Year, New Perks

2016 New Camry

It’s that time of year again when the new and improved models of our favorite cars come out. And this year fans of the New 2016 Toyota Camry have many reasons to be excited. The 2016 Camry Special Edition is the model containing the majority of these updates. The most noticeable of which can be found inside the car.

But let’s begin with the few important exterior updates. 2016 offers the availability of (trim specific) 18-inch alloy wheels, smoked tail-lamp lenses, and a powered tilting and sliding moonroof; all of which allow for a more refined and sophisticated look. Toyota decided to stay with the same exterior shape as last year, which will prove as a good choice, as the Camry currently has one of the most popular and impressive body designs ever.

The interior is where we find most of what has changed for 2016. These changes start with a subtle blue stitching in the seating and dashboard. The seats themselves are more comfortable and sporty, holding passengers in place with comfort and ease. The instrument panel pops with blue-on-white accents and the floor mats that proclaim “Special Edition” in bold stitching, just to remind you of the quality car you have purchased. Keyless entry and push-button start add to the sophistication, and you can expect the same excellent gas mileage you are used to with the Camrys of the past.

The Toyota Camry has never struggled to impress anyone. Its superior performance and longevity have consistently proven this car as one of the best sedans on the market, if not the absolute best. Each year, Toyota manages to make something even better than the year before, and every year there are countless awards given due to its high level of function. At the end of the day there is just no better sedan than a Camry. And the 2016 model is no exception.

A Fall Drive in Mount Airy, NC

Oct 27, 2015
By Mount Airy Toyota

Pilot Sunday Drive
Mount Airy is vibrant this time of year. Bursting with fall colors, a drive through the North Carolina Mountains will take your breath away. At Mount Airy Toyota Scion, we love being able to take a Sunday drive to see fall foliage, buy apples from local orchards, have a picnic in the park or enjoy a wine tasting at a local vineyard.

Here are some of our top picks for a local Sunday Drive:

· Pilot Mountain- This local attraction can be seen for miles around and is truly one of our favorite spots to hike. Enjoy the bright fall leaves as you drive up the mountain to the stunning lookout point. Get out and hike around the knob (as locals call it).

· Blue Ridge Parkway- The Blue Ridge Parkway is one of America’s Best Scenic Routes. A short drive down the parkway will lead you right to Marby Mill- located in Meadows of Dan. It is open seven days a week through the end of October (so hurry). It features demonstrations in molasses making, apple butter making, and emphasizes pioneer culture.

· Elkin, NC – A short drive away, Elkin is a quaint town near Mount Airy located in the rolling foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains. Drive past well-maintained dairy farms or enjoy a walk through their local greenways.

· Apple Orchards- There are several local apple orchards near Mount Airy to visit during fall. One of our favorites is Ayers Orchards. You can plan a picnic or hike around the orchard. They also allow you to pick your own apples.

· Local Vineyards- North Carolina is becoming well-known for its wineries. Around Mount Airy, we have several from which to choose. We like Jolo Winery and Vineyards located in Pilot Mountain. The drive through the mountains is spectacular and their wine tasting is delicious. They also serve lunch and dinner.

· Riverside Park- Whether you want to walk along the greenway trails or fish in the river, a drive to Riverside Park will not disappoint. The park is a favorite spot for locals. The trees surrounding the river display all ranges of colors.

At Mount Airy Toyota Scion, we know Sunday drive wouldn’t be complete without the perfect ride. We recommend the roomy, but sporty Toyota RAV4 for those who like to go off the beaten path or the Toyota Highlander for those with large families. Both vehicles are ready for a test drive. Call or stop by today to see which Toyota is right for you. We offer financing options to fit any budget.

2015 Toyota Camry: A Constant Leader

2015 Camry

The Toyota Camry has gone through some changes over the thirty-three years it’s been around. Starting out as a compact car with its narrow, boxy body, it gradually grew—in 1991 the frame was made wider allowing for more interior room and exterior presence—into the larger sedan it is today. It went from a functional, very basic interior to one with many textures and colors packed with the latest technology and safety equipment. And with each year, no matter what model or trim level, Camry drivers have known that there is one thing that never changes. Reliability. Toyota has managed to lead the family sedan market, winning countless awards on multiple fronts such as safety, longevity, best value, and best resale value for years. And looking at the 2015 model, in all its glory, it seems as though the Camry has not backed down. 2015 brings many upgrades and changes sure to keep continual satisfaction.

Here are just a few of the best new additions to the 2015 Toyota Camry:

1. For the first time ever, the Camry offers a wireless phone charger. This nice little upgrade reduces cable clutter by utilizing Qi Wireless technology, allowing the user to simply place the phone on a charger pad. Cordless, easy, and quick.

2. Because there is so much Toyota wanted to add to the new Camry, a new trim level has been created. The Camry XSE incorporates more aggressive springs and shocks, rides on 18-inch wheels, and allows for tighter, more controlled steering. This sportier look and feel is a welcoming addition to the Camry line-up.

3. The interior of the 2015 Camry is more luxurious than ever. There is a higher degree of soft-touch materials, much more usable storage space, as well as premium technology and sound.

How to Drive in a Flood

By Mount Airy Toyota

Driving in a Flood

Recent rainfall and storms have caused flooding in and around the Mt. Airy area. Whether you believe in global warming or not, weather statistics are showing that 2015 is going to be the hottest year in recent history. Weather forecasters are claiming that a Godzilla El Nino will disrupt weather patterns and cause an above average amount of rainfall this fall and winter. This means possible flooding in many areas.

Here are some tips to keep you safe during heavy rainfall and flash floods:

Prepare for Floods Ahead of Time: Sometimes, we are driving and it begins to downpour. A flash flood can spring up out of nowhere. Consider keeping a safety kit packed in your car for emergencies. The kit should include maps, flares, a flashlight, a spare radio, canned food, and drinking water.

Driving in a Flood Tips:

Estimate how deep the water is before you try to drive through it. Look at road signs and other things along the road to estimate the level of the water. Did you know that just 6 inches of water can damage your engine and lead to stalling? A car can also start to float in as little as 12 inches of water. If you think the standing water is more than 6 inches, turn around and find another route.

Slow Down when you are approaching standing water. If you must drive through water, do so cautiously. Turn off your A/C or heat to prevent the external fan sucking up water. If there are other cars around, let each car pass through the water one at a time.

Look for Downed Power Lines. Do not attempt to drive through standing water if you see downed power lines.

Respect Barricades. If you come to a road barricade- do not attempt to go around it. These barricades are there for your protection. Most likely the road that has been barricaded is a known flood zone or emergency workers have already had to rescue someone from that spot. There could be road damage that makes it unsafe to pass.

Get Out of the Car if you get stuck in standing water. If you try to drive through water and get stuck, do not stay in your car. In as little as a foot of water, your vehicle can float away. Also, water can seep into your vehicle. It is best to seek higher ground and wait for emergency workers.

At Mt. Airy Toyota and Scion, we want you to be safe this fall and winter. Remember you can always turn around and go a different way if you are unsure. Also, driving a vehicle that is higher can help during extreme weather. We recommend the Toyota Tacoma or Toyota Highlander- both have four-wheel drive and sit higher off the road than a sedan.

Tacoma

For those of us who have been patiently awaiting the arrival of the new Tacoma, the time is almost here. This fall we will see the 2016 version of the mid-sized truck that leads them all. And though there are some nice aesthetically pleasing changes to its exterior and interior, most impressive is what we find under the hood and body of the 2016 Tacoma. All aspects that make the frame and engine tick have been reconsidered and updated for higher performance, strength, and rigidity. And what better way to showcase these changes then by giving the 2016 Toyota Tacoma a test drive.

Upon entering this venerated truck, you can’t help but feel that it seems sturdier, tougher—not just in looks, but in stature. This is due to the updated frame built with ultra-high-strength steel, and fined tuned front and back suspensions, springs, and axles. These features allow for a much smoother, capable drive on or off the beaten path.

The engine performance is better too. Though Toyota is keeping the 2.7-liter 16-valve inline-four-cylinder engine, an all-new, all-aluminum 3.5-liter 6-cylinder engine will be offered this year. This high-performing advancement saves on gas (EPA fuel-economy numbers will be out soon) but misses nothing in pick-up and power. Even if your heart belongs to the 4-cylinder Tacoma engine, you have to give the V-6 a drive—you will be floored by the power it has. Driving through snow, ice, or mud is no problem, not even a task. Hop on the highway and be amazed at how quiet and smooth the ride is. But don’t be afraid to punch it a little—maybe pass those other mid-sized, 4-cylinder trucks in the right-hand lane—and notice how much more power the 2016 Tacoma has in comparison to its older versions.

Upon taking the 2016 Tacoma out for a test drive, it’s evident that some serious thought has gone into keeping this brand the toughest, most respected mid-sized truck on the road today.

Toyotadealership

For its economy, price, and updated design, car buyers can’t go wrong with the 2015 Toyota Corolla. So, if you are in the market for a small sedan, here is a list of just five (of the many) reasons to buy the new Corolla.

  1.  Premium Interior

The cabin to the 2015 Corolla is updated to seat five with comfortable lumbar-supporting seats—each able to adjust to the desired positioning of the passenger. And with hands-free Bluetooth connectivity and easy to use climate control, riding in this roomy interior is a blast.

  1. Redesigned Exterior

This year the Toyota Corolla comes with a more aerodynamic design, giving it a much sportier look. It also comes with three sharp new colors (Evergreen Mica, Brown Sugar Metallic, and Blue Crush Metallic) that are sure to turn heads.

  1. Performance and Safety

With top features such as ABS brakes, a traction and stability control system, multiple airbags throughout the cabin, and a rear-backing camera, the Corolla keeps its cargo safe at all times. And, with its two different 1.8-liter, 4-cylinder engines to choose from, drivers can rest assured they will get the high level of performance and efficiency they are looking for.

  1.    Affordability

The 2015 Corolla boasts very reasonable pricing levels (and varying trims within them), making it a perfect option for the budget savvy buyer. It also has some of the best gas mileage found in smaller sedans with 28 mpg city, and 37 mpg highway.

  1.    Great Add-ons
  • Some of the best things about the new Corolla are its four trim levels (L, LE, S, and LE Eco) and many upgrade options. Depending on the trim level chosen, some upgrade options include a navigation system, a moon roof, heated and leather seats, a blind spot monitoring system, and lane departure alert.

Visit Mount Airy Toyota today to experience the great looking, smooth driving new Corolla. You will be glad you chose a Toyota.

5 Reasons to Buy the 2015 Toyota Tacoma

Jun 16, 2015
By Mount Airy Toyota

Tacoma Models

  • 1)Performance

With the combination of a naturally high center of gravity and an adjustable suspension, able to be raised or lowered, the new Tacoma does equally well on or off the road. In addition to this, the new Tacoma possesses perhaps the most important off-roading device of all—a locking differential. This feature overrides the issue of a particular wheel losing traction when in extreme off-roading situations by causing both wheels to work together and spin simultaneously. This enables much better traction and ease through the toughest terrain imaginable.

Design

The 2015 Tacoma is essentially two trucks in one. On the outside, it’s compact with sleek, tight lines giving it an aerodynamic, modern look.  Inside, it’s quite the opposite: open, roomy, and comfortable, allowing space for the entire family. Compared to other mid-sized trucks, the Tacoma offers the most in space and comfort.

  • 3) Innovation

This year Tacoma drivers will find a fully upgraded Entune system, giving the vehicle’s stereo connectivity to mobile apps. And sound quality this year is excellent too. The LCD screen can be used to navigate music, traffic, and weather, with the added feature of voice command. Also included with the Tacoma’s Entune system are HD radio and text-to-voice, making the 2015 Tacoma one of the most connected trucks on the road today.

  • 4) Maneuverability

Because the Tacoma is considered compact in nature, it is able to go where larger trucks could never fit. And with its highly responsive steering, drivers won’t have to worry about nicking other cars or objects when navigating through tight parking garages or crowded streets.

  • 5) Safety

Last, but not least, the Tacoma—as with any Toyota on the market today—is incredibly safe. This year’s Tacoma gained high praise from the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety in side, rear, and frontal impact. Hopefully you will never have to test these safety features out, but it is nice knowing they are there when you need them.
