The 2015 Toyota Avalon has done well for itself. And with many trim options, and an impressive hybrid model, this car can be molded to fit just about anyone's liking. And even though there often comes a stigma with hybrids for being sluggish and slow, don't worry. The Avalon hybrid has plenty of zip and pick-up to it—and it saves you at the pump with 40 miles per gallon. It seems like a rite of passage for owning a car today. Whether the car is brand spanking new, or you've owned it for years, when you walk up to your car and see a ding or a small dent from another car door, you want to scream. It's the kind of damage that's not worth reporting to an insurance company, but many of us dont want to live with it either. So how do you get this small, but frustrating eye-soar repaired? The process involves getting behind a vehicle's skin to massage the dented panels back to their original shape. Davey Jefferson of Granite City Collision in Mount Airy says, "Car owners can save a lot of money if their dents are repairable using a Paintless Dent Repair approach." "Believe it or not, most of our PDR work happens in the summertime," says Davey. "And that is because our customers bring their cars in after damage from summer hail storms." A hail storm can oftentimes total a car, but with Paintless dent repair, and given a lot time, many auto body shops can bring the car back to its original look. Paintless dent repair if done right can be pretty cost effective. On average, to remove one small dent that is accessible from the inside costs approximately $75.00, in contrast to repainting the entire panel which might costs upwards of $350. Technicians who provide PDR services work from the inside of the car to remove the dent. Using metal rods and body picks, technicians push the dents out from the underside of the body panel. Recently AMCI conducted certified tests to see which vehicles operated at the highest levels while driving in the ice, snow and heavy rain. Many vehicles were chosen for these tests, but only a few were tough enough to make it to the top of the list. So who made it? There were a variety of vehicles that did well, but performing best in acceleration, traction, and handling in these treacherous conditions was the all-wheel-drive Toyota Rav4. What really impressed the judges at AMCI was the Rav4's ability to go from 0 to 50 mph quickly on snow, and with minimal slippage. It was also able to stop short on ice while going 30 mph. But that's not all: the Rav4 continued to pique interest by showing top cornering performance on snow, as well as providing top of the line evasive-action performance in heavy rain circumstances. These top markings for the Rav4 are due to Toyota's highly innovative AWD technology, which includes the intricately designed Dynamic Torque Control system. This system, along with the electric power steering mechanisms, helps enhance the driving experience by monitoring and controlling torque transfer between wheels--all four of the wheels--and uses input from a variety of sensors to keep the vehicle moving. Kelly Blue Book recruited families and editors to test out selected vehicles for its annual list of the 15 Best Family Cars. This year, Toyota finds itself among some of the finest family cars to make the prestigious list. Actually, make that three Toyotas. In order to make the cut, selected vehicles are tested in six essential categories: Comfort and Driving, Safety, Child Seats, Cargo Space, Rear-Seat Entertainment, and Extra Features. These all are tested by professionals, as well as families, ensuring that each of the vehicles recognized pass in theory and real-life scenarios. Toyotas that made the list: · 2015 Sienna. According to the report, "It came as no surprise that the 2015 Toyota Sienna made the family final cut." This is the second time the Sienna has made the list, so it really is no surprise. This year it wowed the judges with its newly redesigned interior—it seats up to eight passengers, provides ample head and legroom, and has excellent cargo space behind its third-row seating. And, the Sienna is still the only minivan to offer all-wheel drive. · 2015 Camry. The new Camry is already a favorite amongst family car drivers this year. Its redesigned exterior shows curves and aerodynamics that have never been seen with previous models—giving it a sporty edge that most family sedans are too shy to even attempt. And its new features, such as the automaker's Entune system, USB device connectivity, and the wireless charging feature are just a few reasons it wins this year. · 2015 Highlander. The Highlander's size makes it one of the most sought after SUVs on the market. It's not too big that it gets in the way, and it's not too small so that it cannot stow, pull, or haul like a sport utility vehicle should. On the road, it conserves gas, maintains an incredibly quite ride, and its many compartments and excess space allow for premium stowage. And one of its best qualities, the Conversation Mirror, allows for the driver to see what's taking place anywhere in the vehicle—even the very back. I have to say it's really no surprise to see Toyota make such a list as this. But it always feels nice for us Toyota drivers to be reassured we are traveling in nothing but the best.
