2024 RAV4 Hybrid: Best For Customers And Best For The Environment

Toyota’s Beyond Zero Vision Understanding the leaps and bounds of progress the RAV4 hybrid represents, alongside other Toyota hybrids, requires you to understand Toyota’s commitment to its Beyond Zero Vision. The RAV4 is just one model representing Toyota’s broader goals for carbon neutrality across its operations. By introducing a diverse array of electric and hybrid vehicles, Toyota hopes to encourage consumers and the automotive industry as a whole to strive for more efficient practices. They’ve started by bringing hybrid vehicles like the RAV4 to the front of the automotive industry. Other key focus areas for carbon neutrality are as follows — Carbon - The planet will benefit from lower emissions (or no emissions at all if you’re driving one of Toyota’s EVs). Making energy-efficient vehicles more widely available ensures a carbon reduction likely to make an impact. Water - Toyota seeks to conserve water more effectively, acknowledging its importance as a key resource to our future. More sustainable practices and support for those restoring watersheds and cleaning up waterways are key pillars of Toyota's Zero Vision. Materials - Toyota is helping curb the “throwaway” mentality by reducing waste in packaging and re-examining its internal operations. Biodiversity - Through the protection of natural spaces and habitats, Toyota hopes to protect areas that allow for biodiversity and contribute to the areas around them. So, rest easy, knowing that when you purchase a RAV4 or any other Toyota hybrid, you’re not only reducing your own carbon footprint, you’re contributing to a larger mission for a more sustainable planet. Don’t just take this report from Toyota as a testament; the numbers themselves point to this commitment. “The company is doing well in terms of lowering CO2 emissions, and it has also reduced the weight of plastic packaging purchased by 19% between 2018 and 2022, with 93% of all waste recycled.” - Impakter Index, a Sustainability Organization. Hybrids are growing in popularity and make up a large chunk of the modern automotive industry. “Market predictions by S&P Global Mobility suggest that hybrids will constitute 24% of U.S. new vehicle sales by 2028” - Yahoo Finance. The demand for hybrids is expected to triple over the next five years. And, with new models that successfully turn heads, it’s easy to understand why car buyers increasingly consider hybrids in their car buying process. Flexibility, high fuel economy, and more environmentally friendly are major benefits of a hybrid vehicle. However, not all hybrid vehicles are created equal. Some hybrid options stand out as excellent hybrids and revolutionary vehicles. When one thinks of revolutionary, it’s hard not to picture the 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid. This generation of Toyota RAV4 touts an impressive redesign that carries on the RAV4’s legacy of success. “With a boldly chiseled design inspired by Toyota’s tough trucks, the latest RAV4 amplifies the desirable crossover traits that made the first RAV4 an instant success over a quarter-century ago.” – Paul Hoggard, Toyota. The 2024 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid is just that – an instant success. The vehicle stands out as the preeminent hybrid option, with power and fuel efficiency meeting in one design. Those interested in test driving a Toyota RAV4 or some of Toyota’s other new hybrid models should visit Mount Airy Toyota. Much like the RAV4, they offer the best of both worlds as a car dealership. Top-rated customer service alongside competitive inventories. The Toyota RAV4 The RAV4 has long stood out as a trailblazer among off-roading vehicles. Some argue that the RAV4 is responsible for bridging the massive (at the time) gap between traditional off-roading vehicles and regular passenger vehicles — and they’d be right. The world first got a glimpse of the RAV4 when it came to the Japanese market in 1994 and then later to the U.S. From that moment on it has pushed the envelope as an SUV. “In the past two and a half decades, the RAV4 has helped create a whole new category of vehicles, and it’s also become one of Toyota’s top sellers.” - Amy Chao, Toyota. With multiple generations, versions of the RAV vary wildly, but they are all improvements along the path to closing the hybrid gap in the modern marketplace. Now, RAV4 drivers can have confidence in a vehicle that does everything: off-road, family transportation, and now, energy efficiency. RAV4 Features The RAV4’s accomplishments aren’t just locked to history. The 2024 RAV4 has several features that make it one of the best vehicles on the market. Performance that’s competitive, impressive utility, and technology that’s fitting of this current automotive generation. Utility - Part of being an impressive off-roading vehicle involves having options for tough situations. A high ground clearance, hands-free powerlift, and accessory power outlets make the RAV4 the perfect vehicle for camping or outdoor outings. Technology - The RAV4 has multi-information displays, which have sizes that vary on the trim, allowing you to stay in touch while on the road. The media includes an impressive front and rear parking assistance display and offers a panoramic view, making parking and navigating in tough areas much easier. Interior - The interior of any vehicle is important. The RAV4 is built with thoughtful attention to storage and space, resulting in a comfortable ride. The panoramic glass roof allows you to feel the spacious sky above you. The front and rear seats have individual vents, allowing for comfort tailored to your situation. Toyota Safety Sense 2.5 - Toyota Safety Sense is something that Mount Airy Toyota has touched on a bit in our previous blogs. The RAV4 continues the tradition of offering an amazing set of safety features that protect you and your passengers. Automatic braking, automatic high beams, advanced cruise control, road sign assist, and lane departure notifications are just a few ways the RAV4 keeps you safe. Benefits of a New Hybrid What makes a powerful hybrid possible is a capable battery. Powered by a 245 V lithium-ion battery, the RAV4 can hold a substantial charge. That and its ability to utilize gasoline create an SUV ready for the long haul. This combination results in a fuel efficiency of 41/38 miles per gallon. Using a powerful battery in tandem with a traditional gasoline engine allows the RAV4 to use the battery efficiently switching to gasoline when necessary. The RAV4 shows that performance off with a 7.3-second 60-mph time, and the torque offered by a high-performance battery will be felt in and around town. The prime goes the extra mile, with a 5.6 second 0-60! Hybrids are often touted as the best of both worlds because they offer competitive energy efficiency and the convenience of gasoline. Hybrids also don’t require a plug-in, as they capture the kinetic energy generated while driving, which charges your battery without needing additional energy. RAV4s and other hybrids are available for test drives at Mount Airy Toyota. Deals Abound on New and Recent Toyota Models!

The 2022 model year is a big one for Toyota. A completely redesigned Tundra, significant updates to the Tacoma, and new trims across the lineup are getting car enthusiasts excited for what’s around the corner. Some of the new offerings are already hitting dealerships while others will come later next year. But one thing is for sure: It looks to be a promising era for the automaker as the industry continues to evolve. If you already have your eyes set on a particular Toyota model, this might be the ideal time to take the leap. Toyotathon is here, which means massive savings and incentives! Below, Mount Airy Toyota will discuss the new and recent models in Toyota’s lineup, as well as some of the deals being offered in the coming weeks. New Cars Let’s start with the special editions and upgrades we can expect to see in Toyota’s newest sedans and coups: GR 86 The Toyota GR 86 played a critical role in rekindling the automaker’s reputation for sports cars. And now, this model provides even more style, responsiveness, and agility than it did before. The Toyota Gazoo Racing Team got their hands on the new GR 86 and enhanced the interior, gave it more power, and improved the handling and exterior aerodynamics. The second-generation sports coup also has a longer wheelbase and a bigger engine than previous models. It is powered by a 2.4-liter flat-four engine that produces 228 horsepower and 184 pound-feet of torque at 3,700 rpm. Supra A91-CF Edition Another critical piece of Toyota’s sports car lineage, the GR Supra is better than ever, and 2022 brings an all-new edition: the A91 CF. This special edition Supra is the most exclusive Mark V Supra yet, as there will only be 600 vehicles produced. If we were to sum up the 2022 GR Supra A91-CF Edition, it would come down to style, performance, and technology. The model showcases bold carbon fiber accents to go with a duckbill spoiler. This vehicle is not going to go unnoticed, and we can expect those 600 vehicles to sell in no time! Prius Nightshade Edition The Toyota Prius is single-handedly responsible for turning the concept of a hybrid car into a mass-produced reality. And for 2022, Toyota is making a statement with the Nightshade Special Edition. This model features a lot of black on the exterior, including on the wheels, trim, and badges. The Prius nameplate has already become synonymous with versatility, efficacy, and practicality. The Nightshade Edition adds smart, bold accents that make the car look more confident than ever. Consumers can get this new Prius in Midnight Black Metallic, Silver Metallic, or Super White. All exterior finishes come with black door handles, mirror caps, headlight accents, and a body-color shark fin antenna, and a rear deck spoiler. Four-wheel-drive versions sport black 17-inch alloy wheels while all-wheel-drive models ride on 15-inch wheels. Other Cars Toyota has also made some upgrades to some of its more conventional sedans. The 2022 Toyota Mirai, the hydrogen fuel cell vehicle, has received a new powertrain and rear-wheel-drive platform, which boosts driving range to 402 miles. The model is also longer, wider, and lower than the previous generation. The 2022 Camry will carry over its refresh from 2021, and the Corolla will remain versatile with its sedan, hatchback, Apex Edition, and hybrid versions returning. New Crossovers and SUVs Among other changes, 2022 sees the release of an all-new Toyota crossover and significant strides towards electrification. Corolla Cross The Corolla nameplate has been the essence of value, reliability, fuel efficiency, and safety for more than 50 years. Now, Toyota is expanding the Corolla lineup even further by adding the all-new Corolla Cross. Technically speaking, the Corolla Cross is separate from the Corolla and is a lineup of its own. Recently making its debut, the compact crossover is bold, smart, and practical. And it also happens to be pleasing to the eye! Drivers can opt for AWD or FWD, and the SUV rides on the high-strength TNGA-C platform. It runs on a 2.0-liter Dynamic Force Engine that pushes 169 hp. Along with quality performance, the 2022 Corolla Cross provides a lot of passenger and cargo space to go with a comfortable ride. Highlander Bronze Edition The stunning new Highlander Hybrid Bronze Edition is perhaps one of Toyota’s most sophisticated-looking models to date. It comes in either the Bronze Edition-exclusive Cement finish or the Wind Chill Pearl finish, the latter of which is an all-new exterior color across the Highlander lineup. The Highlander Bronze Edition comes with 18-inch bronze wheels, bronze-colored exterior accents, illuminated bronze door seals, and bronze stitching throughout the cabin. One of the most distinctive features, however, is the Softex-trimmed upholstery with bronze stitching, which is as inspired by mid-century modern design as anything you will see in a vehicle. 4Runner TRD Sport The Toyota 4Runner has developed a 40-year reputation as an SUV that can do pretty much anything on smooth or rough terrain. The model year 2022 sees a new TRD Sport trim that does not compromise on performance or style. The 4Runner already comes in TRD Off-Road and TRD Pro grades, both of which are designed for optimized performance on the roads less traveled. The TRD Sport brings new flair, style, and daily-commuter upgrades that set it apart from other models in the lineup. bZ4X Concept This year, Toyota introduced the bZ4X concept to the North American market. The automaker has long been a leader in the EV industry, and this concept model provides consumers with evidence that the company is not slowing down on its vision for electrification. Toyota has made no secret of its plans for a global lineup of battery-electric vehicles that will be sold with the “Toyota bZ” brand. The Toyota bZ4X SUV Concept uses the automaker’s new e-TNGA BEV-dedicated platform. Though it was developed alongside Subaru, this concept promises the epic quality, reliability, and durability that Toyota fans have come to expect, as well as impressive AWD capabilities. New Trucks The lineup additions and upgrades don’t stop with Toyota’s cars and SUVs. Here are some of the exciting developments for 2022 on the pickup front: Tundra The 2022 model year marks the first time since 2007 that the Toyota Tundra gets a redesign. And when we say redesign, we mean inside and out. The new Tundra will ride on the same body-on-platform as the Tacoma, Sequoia, and 4Runner. At a glance, the 2022 Tundra is bigger, blockier, and wider than previous versions, and it comes with three running lights in the grille. In place of the V8 engine that has powered recent Tundra models, new versions use two twin-turbo V6 engines. More specifically, the 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 includes a motor generator and a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard on the TRD Pro and produces 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. Instead of the leaf springs of previous models, the new Tundra features a double-wishbone front suspension and a multi-link rear with coil springs. Air suspension and adaptive dampers are optional, as is a 14.0-inch infotainment touchscreen that is compatible with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. A 2022 Tundra offers a maximum towing capacity of 12,000 lbs. Furthermore, the fact that this model will share a platform with its Tacoma, Sequoia, and 4Runner siblings means that we can expect those models to be redesigned by 2023. Tacoma TRD Pro The Tacoma TRD Pro gets several upgrades for 2022. It comes with a lift kit that raises the front suspension by 1.5 inches and the rear by 0.5 inches, upgraded control arms, 2.5-inch Fox internal bypass shocks, and 16-inch black TRD wheels with Goodyear Territory all-terrain tires. The TRD Pro comes with a standard 3.5-liter V6 that yields 278 horses and 265 lb-ft of torque; the engine can be paired with a six-speed manual or six-speed automatic transmission. Tacoma Trail Edition The new Tacoma Trail Edition shares many similarities with the SR5 grade and adds lockable bed storage, a 120-volt bed outlet, and rubberized floor liners. The Trail Edition also offers colored accents throughout the exterior and interior and comes standard with four-wheel drive. The front suspension is 1.1 inches higher and 0.5 inches higher in the rear than the SR5 grade. Moreover, it features 16-inch bronze wheels, a unique grille with bronze lettering, skid plates, and a rear locking differential. T eammate Advanced Drive Backgrounder As a new function of Toyota’s Teammate advanced driver assistance technology, the Advanced Drive Backgrounder partners with drivers to improve safety and convenience on the highway. This feature enables automatic steering when activated, as well as automatic acceleration and braking (assuming you are actively supervising!). Additionally, Advanced Drive can help drivers change lanes, merge and pass other vehicles, and maintain a preset difference between vehicles. Tap Into Toyotathon Season and Save Big!

The season for saving is upon us! Rather than present special sales throughout the year like many other automakers, Toyota runs one major campaign at the end of each year—Toyotathon. And, boy, is it a big one! When it comes down to it, no other campaigns can compare to the deals and incentives you will receive from Toyota during the Holiday season. If your heart is set on putting that bow on your Camry, RAV4, Tacoma, or other Toyota model, then this is the best time of year to do it. Let’s talk more about Toyotathon, the new and recent models Mount Airy Toyota has on the lot, and more! What Is Toyotathon? When it comes to Toyota events, it doesn’t get more popular than Toyotathon. Since its first run in 1977, this event has remained the single biggest sale in the auto industry. Rather than the 24-hour events of the early days, however, Toyotathon now stretches from November through the end of the year. So, what makes Toyotathon so special? For one, there are top-notch finance and leasing rates offered during the campaign, and there is a wide inventory for buyers to choose from. And essentially all Toyota models are included in Toyotathon specials, instead of it only being a few models that dealers have had a hard time selling. What Are the Benefits? That was the skinny on why people love Toyotathon, but let’s get into the details of why it is such a massive event every year! Inventory Selection First of all, dealerships like Mount Airy Toyota have a huge inventory of Toyota models eligible for deals and incentives during Toyotathon. This includes all-new as well as recent models. The idea is for dealers to clear out the current model year’s inventory in order to open space for the next year’s models. However, sometimes the next year’s models are included in the sales event too. Therefore, you know you are getting an incredible deal on the exact vehicle you have been dreaming about! Genuine Incentives There are some serious incentives during Toyotathon, with each model determining how much you will save. Popular deals that customers have come to expect include 0% APR, 60 days of no payments, free maintenance programs, and low financing rates. There are also cashback opportunities on several models. Good Trade-Ins If you have ever traded in a vehicle at a dealership (or tried to), you know how difficult it can be to negotiate the price you are looking for. Mount Airy Toyota loves to work with our customers on trade-ins throughout the year, but during Toyotathon it’s even easier to get a great value for your vehicle. All you have to do is email or call our dealership to schedule an evaluation. Then, you simply come to the dealership and allow one of our expert managers to evaluate your vehicle. Shortly after, we will email you with your evaluation results, price offer, and financing options. Lease or Buy? Toyotathon presents incredible deals for both leasing and buying vehicles. So, how do you know which opportunity will work best for you? It comes down to monthly and overall costs, as well as the flexibility you are looking for in your investment. The Upfront Costs Leasing a vehicle means lower monthly payments. This is because they are usually determined around a car’s depreciation within the timeframe you drive it rather than the car’s purchase price. In terms of balancing your budget, the lower payments could help you reach your personal and family financial goals, but remember that your payments will not result in ownership. Also, consider that you might have to get both comprehensive and collision coverage when leasing a vehicle. And obtaining gap insurance is a good idea too. Most states require drivers to have liability insurance at a minimum, so just prepare for extra insurance costs if you choose to take on a lease. Some other leasing fees to consider include a security deposit, disposition fee, acquisition fee, and early termination fee. It’s essential to consider the overall costs when determining whether to lease or purchase a vehicle. For example, you will need to put a down payment toward your vehicle whether you lease it or finance it. This is typically 10% to 20% of the vehicle’s total cost. However, if your credit score is below average, you might have to pay toward the higher side. If you do not have a great credit score, you can usually pay less money down by choosing a used car or a model with fewer luxury features. Repairs and Maintenance The older your car gets, the more money you will have to invest in keeping it in good mechanical and aesthetic condition. Most leases last for three years and are covered with a warranty for the duration of the lease. But depending on your particular contract, you still might be responsible for certain repairs and maintenance tasks. All in all, if you tend to attract bumps and scratches to your vehicles, you might be well served to go with a lease with comprehensive repair and maintenance coverage. If you choose to buy a car, the good thing is that you can budget for regular maintenance from the beginning, and once your vehicle is paid off, you can use the cash that was designated for your monthly payment for maintenance and repair expenses. Depreciation Depreciation is another critical factor when determining whether to lease or buy a vehicle. In short, your car’s value will reduce quicker the more miles you drive. That said, if you plan on driving more than the average driver, you could end up paying big on your lease. Most leases enforce mileage limits (usually about 12,000 miles a year), and you could be subjected to a penalty of around 15 cents per mile if you go over the limit. Flexibility If you are wondering whether leasing or purchasing a car provides you with more flexibility, the answer is: it depends. When leasing a vehicle, you can drive a new model every few years, meaning you always have a new car with up-to-date features. But before you get excited about not being trapped by owning the same vehicle for more than a decade, consider that leases are not always as flexible as they would seem. Say, for instance, that your life circumstances or needs change, or that you simply grow tired of your leased vehicle. Breaking your lease early can result in overwhelming fees and penalties. In some cases, you may have to pay all of the remaining lease payments in addition to the fees and penalties. If you own your car, you can get rid of it by selling it or trading it in. Of course, if you are upside down on your loan, this may not be the ideal option. But you can still have the freedom to sell or trade your vehicle and move on to new things. Other Discounts While it doesn’t get any better than Toyotathon for scoring an incredible deal on your dream model, Mount Airy Toyota offers additional specials to service members and college graduates. Military Rebate To say “Thank You,” Southeast Toyota Finance provides a rebate for eligible active or inactive duty, retired, and honorably discharged military members with a $500 rebate on any lease or financing on a new Toyota model. The Military Rebate Program also extends to household relatives and can be used in conjunction with other discounts, such as those you will find during Toyotathon. All you have to present is verifiable proof of your or your loved one’s military status when you come into our dealership to lease or purchase a vehicle. It’s also worth noting that if you or a household family member has been called to active duty, you may qualify for other protections and benefits. College Graduate Rebate Mount Airy Toyota also loves to congratulate college graduates with a $500 rebate on any lease or purchase of a new Toyota model. In conjunction with SETF, this College Graduate Rebate may also reward you with benefits such as low or no down payment, deferred monthly payments for 90 days, no lease security deposit, low financing interest rates, and more. If you have recently graduated from an accredited four-year college or university or will graduate within the next six months, or you have received a nursing degree from an accredited two-year college in the last two years, you may be eligible for the rebate. You can also qualify if you are or have recently been enrolled in an accredited graduate degree program. As with the military rebate program, college grads can use their $500 rebate alongside any other discounts they receive. New and Recent Models Hopefully, you have an idea of what Toyotathon is and whether or not leasing or buying is the right move for you! Now, let’s touch on some of the new and recent Toyota models that we will have on the lot during the biggest savings event of the year! Camry If you are looking for a reliable and attractive sedan, look no further than the Toyota Camry. It looks sharp, and it will hold its resale value as much as any other vehicle in the world. It also comes with a spacious cabin and cutting-edge technology, making it ideal for families. Corolla Along with being one of the best-selling vehicles for decades, the new Corolla models are better than ever. Drivers get industry-leading advanced safety features, easy-to-use controls, exceptional fuel economy, and comfortable ride quality and cabin. Plus, its modern exterior design is something to behold! Corolla Cross As one of Toyota’s newest additions to the lineup, the Corolla Cross is essentially what its name suggests—a Corolla turned into a crossover SUV. One can assume that it will carry the unmatched resale value of other Toyota models, and if you are looking for a compact SUV that looks the part, gives you great fuel economy, and serves as a top-notch daily commuter, the Corolla Cross could be the vehicle for you. Tacoma The Toyota Tacoma needs no introduction. It has long been a favorite among mid-size pickup consumers and it has garnered a spectacular following among off-road enthusiasts. The new Tacoma models are as rugged and refined as ever, making it the perfect truck for anyone who wants to use it for everyday activities while maintaining a rough-and-tumble edge. Tundra The 2022 model year sees the Toyota Tundra receiving a complete design and mechanical overhaul. The full-size pickup truck segment is one of the most competitive in the industry, but the new Tundra has been created to give Ford, Ram, and GM a run for their money. This truck has everything you need. Highlander Just like so many other Toyota models, the Highlander has come to be trusted by crossover fans for many years. This mid-size three-row SUV is ideal for families looking for adventure or a comfortable daily commute. It is incredibly safe, reliable, and practical. And it’s one of the best-looking SUVs on the market. 4Runner What can you say about the Toyota 4Runner? Over the years, this model has become one of the most trusted and loved mid-size SUVs in the world. It particularly attracts off-road enthusiasts who are looking for ruggedness without sacrificing technology. It has great standard safety tech, tons of cargo space, and many different trim levels to choose from. RAV4 Similar to the Highlander and 4Runner, the Toyota RAV4 has built a bulletproof reputation for itself. It might just be the most attractive, practical, comfortable, and fuel-efficient compact SUV on the market. And it also happens to come with abundant passenger and cargo space, and impressive safety and convenience tech. Venza Toyota has recently revived the Venza nameplate. This time around, the two-row mid-size crossover SUV is exclusively a hybrid. It doesn’t get more comfortable when it comes to a daily commuter. Though it only has two rows, passengers have plenty of room and you can carry a lot of cargo with the Venza. Unless you have a large family, this SUV could be a perfect match. Conclusion Can you believe it’s already that time of year? Toyotathon is the biggest auto sales campaign in the world, and we will be running it at Mount Airy Toyota from November through the end of the year! Consider the information above as you determine whether you should lease or purchase your new vehicle, and give us a call or come by our dealership to see what new and recent Toyota models you have to choose from!

Time is Running Out: Trade in the Old for Something New During Toyotathon

We are at the tail end of 2019, which means it’s the perfect time to trade in your old vehicle for a new one here at Mount Airy Toyota. Toyotathon is here, but not for much longer so you had better act fast in order to take advantage of the best possible prices on a large inventory of Toyota vehicles. There is no easier and faster way to upgrade your Toyota than by trading it in for a newer, better one from Mount Airy Toyota. Our dealership is known for accepting a wide range of trade-ins, and we like to make the process as simple as possible. In no time, you can be driving away in a brand-new Camry, Corolla, Prius, or Avalon. Or, if you are looking for something more like the RAV4, 4Runner, Tacoma, or Sienna, we have those too. Reasons to Trade in Your Old Vehicle for a New One Yes, trading in your current vehicle when you purchase a new one at a dealership is the simplest way to go, but that’s not the only reason to go this route. From convenience to tax savings, here are several reasons why trading in your vehicle could be the best move for you to make: Ease First, let’s expand on the most obvious reason trading in your car can be a good decision: it’s easy and fast, especially compared to other methods. For example, if you opt to sell your car privately, you usually have to handle any major and minor repairs, take good photos of the car, meet with multiple prospective buyers, haggle the price, and complete a ton of paperwork. If you’ve decided to buy a new vehicle, however, you simply walk into the dealership and explain to a team member that you want to trade in your current vehicle. The dealership will do the heavy lifting from that point. Typically, someone in the pre-owned vehicle department will take your current car for a test drive and perform an appraisal. The dealership will then bring an offer to you, and if you accept, you will sign the title over. That’s it. Convenience When you trade-in your vehicle and buy a new one from the same dealership, everything can be handled at the dealership itself. Selling through a third party or at a different dealership usually requires you to drive to multiple places, such as the dealership you’re selling your car to, the dealership you’re purchasing the new car from, the DMV, and so on. Reduce paperwork! There is so much paperwork involved when selling a vehicle, and if you sell across state lines, it can become downright overwhelming. However, if you trade-in your car at a dealership, they will handle all the paperwork on the spot. Since car dealers are well-versed in such transactions, they will know how to quickly file each document to the corresponding DMV, and all you’ll have to do is sign on the dotted line. Lower Price on New Car Another advantage to trading in your vehicle is the lower price you will receive on the new one. This is particularly the case if you own your old car outright. That is, if the dealer purchases your old vehicle for $8,000, and your new vehicle costs $29,000, you will only be paying or getting a loan for $21,000. This also means that you will pay less sales tax on the new car since the final price is thousands of dollars less. Compatibility with Existing Loan Many people think you can’t trade in your vehicle if you have an existing loan that you are still paying down. Here’s the good news: You can! And it’s actually a common occurrence for dealers to acquire old loans as part of a new car transaction. Typically, a dealership will pay the remaining balance of your loan, acquire the title directly from the lender, and if you have equity in the car, that amount will go toward the down payment for your new car. Some consumers are afraid to trade their old vehicle into a dealership if they owe more on the loan than the vehicle is worth. However, while being upside down in a loan may not bring you the most money, trading it in is still the easiest and least stressful method of getting rid of your old vehicle. Tax Savings Trading in your vehicle has the potential of saving you a significant amount of money. In many states, you are only required to pay sales tax on the final sale price of your new vehicle after it is reduced by the amount that you and the dealership agree upon for the trade. Then, you only have to pay sales tax on the remaining net cost—or final price—of the new vehicle. So, if the sale price of your new car is $24,000, and your trade-in is valued at $7,000, you will pay $17,000 on the new car, and you will only pay taxes on the $17,000. What’s Special About the End of the Year? In the Fall, many automobile manufacturers begin to roll out the next year’s models. During this time, dealerships often have a lot of inventory, which means two things for consumers: There are a lot of models to choose from. Dealerships will want to make room for the newer models coming in. At Mount Airy Toyota, we have hundreds of 2019 and 2020 Toyota models to choose from. And since we need to make room for even more 2020 models streaming in, we need to move out the 2019s. In other words, we are ready to negotiate a good deal on trade-ins, especially for the 2019 models! And don’t forget about Toyotathon, as you can score the biggest deals on new Toyota models through the end of the year. Other Factors that Determine the Best Time to Trade-In While the end of the year is a great time to trade in your old vehicle for a new one, there are other circumstances that indicate it’s time for a change: Vehicle Depreciation Depreciation is a big factor in whether you should trade in your vehicle now or later. All cars lose value once they leave the dealer lot. What you want to consider is how long you have owned the vehicle and whether it was new or pre-owned when you originally purchased it.   The fastest depreciation typically occurs during the first three years of owning a vehicle. So, if you bought your vehicle new, it’s best to wait until the depreciation rate begins slowing down (for some vehicles it doesn’t slow down until four or five years of ownership, so research your particular make and model). You will come out better in the trade-in once your vehicle’s depreciation has leveled off.   If the vehicle in question was pre-owned when you bought it, chances are the depreciation has already leveled off. And, since age and mileage are sometimes factored in during a trade-in, it’s usually best to trade the vehicle in as soon as you can. Major Repairs When your old vehicle needs a repair that will cost more than what the vehicle is worth, it’s a good time to trade it in. Sure, you should take care of little fixes, but get an estimate for the repair needed, and keep in mind that dealerships can do major repairs for less than you would have to pay. Safety and Reliability Anytime you have a vehicle that gives you safety or reliability concerns, consider trading it in. This could be due to an accident, age, mileage, or any other factor that compromises the safety or reliability of the vehicle—and, more importantly, those inside of it. Everyday Needs There may be nothing wrong with your vehicle, but if your daily needs have changed, it still might be time to trade in the vehicle for a new one. Perhaps your family has grown and you need to upgrade to a full-size SUV or minivan. Or, maybe you’re commuting a longer distance for work than you used to and will be better suited with a more fuel-efficient car. Quick Tips for Getting Prepared If you’ve decided to go the trade-in route while purchasing your new vehicle, here are some simple tips to help you get started: Research Your Vehicle Knowing what your car is worth is important when it comes to negotiating its trade-in value. Go online and research the value of your car; Kelly Blue Book is a great source for this. Be sure to include all the information in your search, including the make, model, year, mileage, and condition of the vehicle. It also might make a difference if the vehicle has been in an accident. Once you get the information, bring a printed copy or show a digital copy to the car dealer you’re working with. Clean Up the Vehicle It’s important to fix your car up as nice as you can before bringing it into the dealership. No, you don’t need to worry about having major repairs done since the dealership will take care of that. However, cosmetic issues (e.g., scratches on the bumper, dings on the panel, etc.) can bring down your trade-in value. If your vehicle has cosmetic damage like this, get a repair estimate from a trusted repair shop so you can determine if it’s worth fixing.   Moreover, it never hurts to do some simple cleaning before you present your car to the dealer. Be sure to run it through a car wash and vacuum the interior (shampoo it if it’s especially dirty).   It’s hard to go wrong by trading in your old vehicle for a brand-new Toyota model. Here at Mount Airy Toyota, we’ll make the process easy and convenient, and we’ll work with you if you have a loan that you still owe money on. Plus, it’s the end of the year, which means some crazy deals are happening for 2019 and 2020 models!   If it’s time for you to ditch your old car for a new one, give us a call at (336) 786-2118 or drop by our dealership for a test drive. Now, to get some ideas flowing for what your next big gift to yourself could be, we’ll take a look at the some of the top-selling Toyota models available today. But first, here’s a brief background on the Toyotathon event: TOYOTATHON EXPLAINED Since 1957, when manufacturing began in the United States, Toyota has been leading the American automobile industry in many respects. This is largely due to their continued dedication to quality and innovation, which has resulted in one best-selling vehicle after another and many groundbreaking designs. Another major way in which Toyota has been a forerunner in the industry has its origins in 1977, when the company launched its first Toyotathon event. The sales team posed the question: What if we held several minor sales throughout the year and ended the year with the biggest sale anyone has ever seen? Thus, the first Toyotahon was born—a 24-hour sales event that set new records. Since then, Toyota has held the blowout sales event every single year, frequently crushing sales records and always thrilling customers. Many automobile companies now follow this format, but none of them quite match the magnitude of Toyotathon.   Without further ado, let’s look at some of the Toyota models you can expect to see at his year’s Toyotathon. We’ll cover a few features of each, as well as what experts are saying about each model in general: Tundra The Tundra is Toyota’s full-size pickup, and it comes in six trim levels: SR, SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, and TRD Pro. Rear-wheel drive is standard, but four-wheel-drive is available. The Tundra’s most powerful engine, which is available in the four higher trims, is a 5.7-L, V8 engine good for 381 horsepower and 401 foot-pounds of torque. Buyers of the 2019 SR or SR5 can opt for a 4.6-L, V8 engine that produces 310 hp and 327 lb-ft of torque, though this engine is not offered on the incoming 2020 Tundra. “It pulls strongly off the line and there's a burbly exhaust note trailing in your wake. The six-speed automatic shifts smoothly, and always seems to be in exactly the gear I want.” — CNET RoadShow Perhaps the most impressive characteristic of the Tundra is the size and storage space of the backseat, which is a cut above the competition—especially when you opt for the crew cab. It also has better standard safety features than others in its class (e.g., Ford F-150, Chevrolet Silverado, Nissan Titan), as well as some stellar off-road capability. If you like the outdoors and/or need a solid pickup for towing, the Tundra will get the job done. And it’ll look good doing it. If you’ve been looking for just the right Toyota Tundra for sale, chances are we have it! Tacoma Now for the Tundra’s little brother—the Toyota Tacoma. The Tacoma is a midsize pickup also available in six trims: SR, SR5, TRD Sport, TRD Off-Road, Limited, and TRD Pro. The SR and SR5 trims are stocked with a 2.7-L, four-cylinder engine that yields 159 hp and 180 lb-ft of torque. The other four trims come with a 3.5L V6 that produces 278 hp and 265 lb-ft of torque. “The midsize pickup truck market has been growing, but it's fair to say that the Toyota Tacoma is still the odds-on favorite for a lot of shoppers. From its basic work-truck configuration to luxury-oriented or off-road variants, the Tacoma is simply one of the most well-rounded pickups on sale today.” — Edmunds The Tacoma has been a leading compact/midsize truck since its advent in 1995, and it seems to evolve into an even better pickup each year. If you’ve been looking for a Toyota Tacoma for sale in NC, look no further than Mount Airy Toyota. We also have a great selection of used Toyota Tacoma trucks for sale! 4Runner Built on the same body-on-frame construction as the Tacoma, buyers can find the Toyota 4Runner in seven trim levels: SR5, SR5 Premium, TRD Off-Road, TRD Off-Road Premium, TRD Pro, Limited, and Limited Nightshade. A 4.0-L, V6 engine is standard on the 4Runner, and it delivers 270 hp and 278 lb-ft of torque. Paired with this engine is a five-speed Electronically Controlled Automatic Transmission with Intelligence (ECT-I). This combo makes for the best acceleration, power and stability yet in a 4Runner. “Toyota's solid 4Runner remains one of the last truck-based mid-size SUVs and serves as a multitool on wheels. With a respectable 5,000-pound towing capacity and nearly 90 cubic feet of maximum cargo volume, the 4Runner blends capability and off-road prowess.” — Cars.com Like many other Toyota models, the 4Runner has a well-established reputation and only gets better with time. To find the right Toyota 4Runner for sale in NC, simply come to our dealership! RAV4 The 4Runner’s smaller sibling, the RAV4, comes in five different trim levels: LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Adventure, Limited, and XSE Hybrid. Each one comes standard with a 2.5-L, four-cylinder engine good for 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque, as well as, an eight-speed automatic transmission. “Don’t let the rugged styling of the all-new 2019 Toyota RAV4 fool you: Underneath that off-road-inspired design is a compact SUV that still offers a roomy interior, easygoing comfort, a slew of standard advanced safety features, good fuel economy, and is backed by a tradition of excellent resale value and reliability.” — Kelley Blue Book Perhaps more than any other Toyota model, the RAV4 is consistently evolving in pretty much every area—from appearance to performance to comfort. Maybe that’s why it was the best-selling SUV and fourth overall best-selling vehicle in the U.S. in 2019. The best place to find the RAV4 of your dreams is at a premier Toyota dealer of NC like Mount Airy Toyota! Camry The Camry has been the best-selling sedan for so many years that it needs no introduction. It comes in five trims—L, LE, SE, XLE, and XSE. There are three different engines available on the Camry. The first is a 2.5-L, four-cylinder that produces 203 hp and 184 lb-ft of torque. Then there’s a 3.5-L, V6 that’s good for 301 hp and 267 lb-ft of torque. The available Hybrid system includes a 2.5-L, four-cylinder that exudes 176 hp and 163 lb-ft of torque. “The new Camry offers sleeker styling, but it's the improved fuel economy and handling, plus standard advanced safety systems, that distinguish it among the crowd of midsized sedans.” — Consumer Reports When it comes to all-around great vehicles for families, it’s hard to beat the Camry. Since its major overhaul in platform, styling and dynamics in 2018, the Camry doesn’t really have any weak spots. It’s safe, it rides and handles great, it provides impressive performance, it looks awesome, and the list goes on. If you’re dreaming of a Camry as your Toyotathon purchase, we’ve got plenty of them! Corolla As with the Camry, the Corolla has been a staple in the automobile industry for many years. It currently comes in six trims: L, LE, LE Eco, XLE, SE, and XSE. All of the trim levels come stock with a 1.8-L, inline-four engine that boasts more than 30 miles per gallon. “You should buy the Corolla if you are in search of a well-built compact car that's loaded with lots of safety and technology features.” — US News and World Report It’s extremely hard to beat the Corolla when it comes to overall quality in compact cars. Along with superior fuel economy and class-leading standard safety features, the Corolla holds the highest predicted reliability rating on the market. Plus, it has a lot of passenger space (especially the sedan models), and it looks really, really good coming and going. Mount Airy Toyota is the place to come if you’re looking for a Toyota Corolla in NC! Supra The first fifth-generation Supra is on the way, and there are three trim levels available: 3.0, 3.0 Premium, and Launch Edition. Like the rest of the car, the engine was built in cahoots with BMW; the B58 engine is a turbocharged beast. It’s a 3.0-L, inline-six capable of 335 hp and 365 lb-ft of torque, and it’s paired with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The Supra will have you at 60 mph in just 3.8 seconds, and you’ll cover a quarter-mile in 12.3 seconds at 113 mph. “This is a genuinely transcendent product, pushing the limits of what's possible in a competitive class … get behind the wheel and the end result is a product that far exceeds any preconceived notions.” — Motor 1 It truly is something to behold.
